Back to School Excitement

I was at the store the other day with Jessica and she tried as hard as she could do divert my attention toward the checkstands, but it must have been the smell of paper and crayons that caught my attention. I turned my head and there it was, all that temptation in all it’s glory…
the school supplies!

I’m addicted to school supplies. I love all the pretty pencils and erasers, lined paper packages, staplers, and Crayolas! I kept chanting the following words to myself out loud;

You have enough, go home. You have enough, go home. You have enough, go home.

Sigh***

Jessica helped me by pushing the cart toward the cashier, laughing the whole way. She saved me from going into debt on school supplies.

I love school! I am so excited to get started with homeschooling in our new neighborhood, in our new home, in our new dining room. We have so much more space this year.

Not only do the kids have their room, but also a dining room table, a kitchen peninsula (breakfast counter), but also the newly reconstructed patio. Add all that to the fact that we live by the beach and I have a homeschooling paradise! Ok, so it’s not the same as having a school room, but we homeschool organically anyway so we love to be with nature as much as possible.

Instead of going shopping for yet MORE school supplies, I really must use what we already have. I’ll be digging through our school cabinet to see what I can find to create some fun back to school goodies for the kids.

Are you excited to get back to school?

  1. I can relate! Everytime I go to Target, I buy a few more packs of crayons, markers, and glue sticks to add to my stockpile. But I’m also leading an art co-op for our homeschool group and need lots of stuff!

      I went to the store again today and was giddy with excitement..I broke down and bought one thing.. I’ll be posting about that one thing soon. :)

  2. I, too, have always loved school supply shopping. I think for me it was the thrill of finding what I needed at the cheapest price. This year I didn’t need to buy much. My daughter is headed off to high school, so she wanted a couple of “new” items. She didn’t want to reuse old things. Go figure. So, I’m down to one at home – and I just bought his curriculum last week. We start school in two weeks so I figured I had to get moving on that!

      You know, the one thing I couldn’t find at Walmart was White Out..all they had was the tape form. ppft! I guess I’ll check out Staples. Pray for me… I might go into debt lol
