My dear friend, Dawn, has created a homeschool meme that is thriving each week called the ABC’s of Homeschooling. My life has been so crazy busy that I had missed the launch of this, but I’m going to go back and do A-E as well. What a great way to get to know some other homeschool moms through blogging.
This week is F and I’m choosing Family. This is so timely for me with everything going on in our lives right now.
My Father-In-Love has had heart issues this year and my dad found out he has cancer, On top of that he had a ‘hiccup’ with his heart last week and was rushed to the ER. In the middle of all this, my sister, who married my Brother-In-Love, is moving to my town this very week.
Talk about stressful! I shared more details here.
All of these things puts emotional anxiety on us all as well as financially.
But we’re pulling together as a family to make it work!
That’s what family does.
We go through hard times together and no matter how difficult things get, we pull together because of love. Being a homeschool family is what affords us the time to be able to help others when storms of life come. We can put off Math, History, and Science for a few days while we rally around loved ones who need us.
I was just talking to my Brother-In-Love this morning and I said, “I kinda feel sorry for people who have never been through a trial. Going through trials strengthens us and it reveals who are real friends. These fires reveal the gold and burn away the chaff.”
I’m practicing being thankful in the hard times.
So for me, my week of ABC’s is for Family. My sister will now live in town. My husband will have his brother in town and all our children will have their cousins in town. I want to embrace this time while we have it, because it is highly possible that my family will be moving out of state at some point.
Embrace the family as much as possible and live at peace as often as it depends upon you. Some disagreements are not worth breaking relationships over.
Family is sacred and we need to find ways to embrace it as such.

Oh Lisa I love this! And it’s so great that your family is moving closer. We have my in-laws but my SIL and BIL live 5 hours away, as do all of my family too. How NEAT to have cousins around!! Thanks for linking up! (You could put the links to each letter post in the comments under that week, since the Linkies are closed.)
